EP 06: Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

Today we talk about Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo, a duology set in her very popular Grishaverse. We talk about strong ships (relation as well as friend!) and representation in young adult fiction.

As always: SPOILERS FOR EVERYTHING. Please note that while we cover YA books this is in actual fact a podcast intended for adults. We recommend a minimum listener age of 16, but what the heck do we know?! Use your judgement.

Look at these gorgeous images of our favorite ships from monolime!

Please check out monolime on Tumblr and Instagram! (And look out for some other great illustrations of other fandoms we love too.)

And for a hearty chuckle, take a look at Incorrect Six of Crows on Tumblr as well!

Now for the links:

Here are books one and two on amazon.

Writing YA: My Response to Slate by Leigh Bardugo

I refuse to link the Slate article because it’s trash. (JK she links to it in the response.)

Here are the two fanfics Shelby mentioned:

Waffle Heaven

And here’s a good search to start with if you want to see some of the tattoos we mentioned.

And here’s the amazing photographer whose photo we mentioned (used in our cover photo) on unsplash: Jeremy Thomas.

Thanks again for listening! Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter and Instagram (in the right hand sidebar of this page).

The podcast is available on Apple Podcasts, Google Play, and Stitcher so check us out on your favorite app, subscribe, rate, and review. It’s a huge help to DIY podcasters like us. You can also help by telling a friend who loves young adult fiction to listen in!

You can email us at youngadultaf@gmail.com with comments or questions, OR if you want to be featured in a blog post or be a guest! We’d love to hear your suggestions on what to read or discuss.

You guys are the ship!!!
